Lyrics
I found out in the dentist chair, I'm good at disassociating.
Pull myself into the lights, focus on my steady breathing, I'm fine.
In the calm and I don't care what's going on inside down there.
1, 2, 3, 4 out and in, I am not my thoughts again, I'm fine.
Without the focus in that chair, I'd pull myself into despair
and fall and sink down through the fear that lurks and skulks and permeates my mind.
Forget I'm fine.
If every day were like the dentist and I could summon laser focus
to stay at peace, I'd heal the world one day at a time.
But in my head is where my heart goes to spiral out among the shadows,
afraid of facing all tomorrows, face-plant like a knocked domino in line.
But on the days when I feel present, I know that every day's a present.
And if my ship comes in tomorrow, I still won't be spared from unpleasant.
But my heart is full and free, and I'm alive.
So what to take from all this chewing?
There's nothing to be gained from stewing.
Keep your focus on what's greater
Instead of dooming what comes later.
Get your teeth cleaned, breathe, and you'll be fine.
